Registration for Non-EU Citizens in Denmark

If you’re from outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland, you’ll need a valid residence permit before entry. After arrival, register your address to get CPR, your health card, and then MitID.

Important: You can’t get a CPR number—or open a bank account—until your residence permit is granted and your address is registered.

Overview: registration for non-EU citizens

🛂 Permit first

Apply for and receive your residence permit before entering Denmark (unless you already hold one).

🏠 Address & CPR

After arrival, register a permanent address with your kommune to obtain CPR.

💳 Health card

Your yellow health card (sundhedskort) is mailed to your registered address after CPR.

🔐 MitID

With CPR in hand, set up MitID to access banking and public digital services.
