One person, one laptop, one unreasonable amount of Danish admin knowledge
exploringdenmark is a free resource built by an expat who spent too many hours navigating Borgerservice, SKAT, and SIRI — so you don’t have to.
No ads. No sponsored content. No affiliate links. Just guides.
Why this site exists
When I moved to Denmark, I was overwhelmed by how much admin there was — and how little of it was explained clearly in English. CPR, MitID, e-Boks, skattekort, forskudsopgørelse, NemKonto… every step had a Danish word I’d never seen and a process nobody had mapped out.
I started writing things down for friends. Then their friends asked for the notes. Then I thought: why not make it a proper site?
exploringdenmark is the guide I wish existed when I arrived. Every article is written from the perspective of someone who’s actually done the thing — not a government FAQ translated by committee.
What we cover
73 guides across arrival, banking, tax, healthcare, housing, working, immigration, business, daily life, driving, and leaving Denmark. Plus 10 interactive tools — calculators, comparison tables, and planners.
Every guide aims to be: accurate (we cite official sources), practical (step-by-step, not theory), and honest (we’ll tell you what’s frustrating, not just what’s possible).
How we’re funded
We’re not funded by ads, sponsorships, or affiliate deals. The site runs on donations from readers who found a guide helpful enough to buy us a coffee. That’s it.
This means we can recommend the cheapest bank instead of the one that pays us commission, and we can tell you that some government processes are genuinely terrible without worrying about upsetting a partner.
