Legal, privacy & cookies

Everything in one place: our disclaimer, terms of use, how we handle your data under GDPR, and how we use cookies. In plain English, kept short.

In shortExploring Denmark is general information, not personalised advice. We collect as little data as possible, use only essential and (with consent) analytics cookies, and always point you to the official Danish authority for decisions that matter.

Disclaimer: information, not advice

Exploring Denmark provides general, educational information about living in Denmark for internationals. It is not, and must not be treated as, personalised legal, tax, immigration, financial or medical advice, and using the site does not create any advisor-client relationship.

Verify before you act

Danish rules, figures and thresholds change, many reset each January and schemes are revised through the year. While we cite official sources and review content regularly (see our editorial policy), we cannot guarantee everything is current or applies to your situation. Always confirm with the relevant authority, for example SKAT, SIRI or borger.dk, or a qualified professional before making a decision.

Our tools and calculators

The calculators produce simplified estimates for orientation only. They omit edge cases and cannot replace an official calculation such as your forskudsopgorelse or a Motorstyrelsen quote. Do not rely on them for financial, tax or legal decisions.

Terms of use

By using Exploring Denmark you agree to these terms, which should be read alongside the disclaimer above.

Intellectual property

The content and design of Exploring Denmark are ours unless stated otherwise. You may read and share links freely, but please do not republish substantial content without permission.

External links

We link to official and third-party sites for your convenience. We are not responsible for their content or availability.

Liability and governing law

To the extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for loss arising from reliance on the site, and nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. You use the site at your own risk. These terms are governed by Danish law.

Privacy policy (GDPR)

This explains what data we collect, why, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We aim to collect as little as possible.

What we collect

Two things, at most. First, if you subscribe to our newsletter, we store the email address you give us and the fact that you subscribed. Second, like most websites we use privacy-conscious analytics to understand which pages are useful; where possible this is aggregated and does not identify you personally.

Legal basis and your rights

We process newsletter data on the basis of your consent, and analytics on consent or legitimate interest depending on your choices. Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent, just contact us. You also have the right to complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet.

Retention and sharing

We keep newsletter data until you unsubscribe. We do not sell your data, and we share it only with the service providers needed to run the site (for example an email delivery service and analytics), under data-processing safeguards.

Cookie policy

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Some are essential for the site to work; others help us understand how it is used.

The cookies we use

Essential cookies remember your cookie choices and keep the site functioning. Analytics cookies, used only with your consent, help us see which guides and tools are useful. We do not use advertising cookies.

Managing your choices

When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time through the banner or your browser settings, where you can also delete existing cookies. Rejecting analytics cookies does not affect access to any content.
