Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
exploringdenmark.com (“we”, “our”, “the site”) is an independent resource for people moving to or living in Denmark. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights.
Who we are
exploringdenmark.com is operated independently and is not affiliated with the Danish government, any municipality, SIRI, or any official body. Our contact email is hello@exploringdenmark.com.
Data we collect
We collect minimal data and only what is necessary:
- Email address — when you voluntarily enter it in our free guide popup or newsletter signup. Used solely to deliver the guide and, if you consent, send occasional newsletters.
- Contact form data — name, email, country, topic, and message when you use our contact page. Used solely to reply to your enquiry. Processed via Formspree.
- Analytics data — page views, time on page, device type, approximate location (country level), and traffic source. Collected via Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation enabled. No individual visitors are identified.
- Cookie consent preferences — stored locally on your device. Not transmitted to us.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not collect payment information (free guide downloads are free; paid products are handled entirely by third-party platforms like Gumroad)
- We do not collect passwords, government IDs, CPR numbers, or sensitive personal data
- We do not use tracking pixels for retargeting ads
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes
How we use your data
- Email addresses: To deliver the free guide PDF and, only if you consented, send occasional newsletters with new guides and tips. You can unsubscribe from any email with one click.
- Contact form submissions: To reply to your question. We do not add contact form emails to our newsletter list.
- Analytics: To understand which guides are most useful, identify gaps in our content, and prioritise updates. We do not use analytics for advertising or profiling.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate the site:
- Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) — email list management and guide delivery. Brevo Privacy Policy
- Google Analytics 4 — website analytics with IP anonymisation. Google Privacy Policy
- Formspree — contact form processing. Formspree Privacy Policy
- WordPress / hosting provider — website hosting. Standard server logs (IP, user agent, timestamps) are retained for security purposes and automatically deleted after 30 days.
Data storage and retention
- Email addresses are stored in Brevo’s EU-based servers. Retained until you unsubscribe, at which point they are deleted within 30 days.
- Contact form messages are processed by Formspree and forwarded to our email. We do not store them in a separate database.
- Analytics data is retained in Google Analytics for 14 months, then automatically deleted.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Deletion: Ask us to delete your data (“right to be forgotten”). We will comply within 30 days.
- Opt out: Unsubscribe from emails with one click. Reset cookie preferences at any time via our Cookie Policy.
- Data portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent: You can withdraw consent for analytics or marketing cookies at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
For EU/EEA residents (GDPR): Our legal basis for processing is consent (email signup, analytics) and legitimate interest (essential cookies, contact form replies). You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
For California residents (CCPA): We do not sell your personal information. You have the right to know what data we collect, request deletion, and opt out of any future sale (though we do not sell data).
Children’s privacy
Our site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, contact us and we will delete it immediately.
International data transfers
Your data may be processed outside the EU/EEA by our third-party services (Google, Formspree). These providers maintain EU-approved data transfer mechanisms including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
