What Digital Post is
Denmark is one of the most digitised countries on earth, and Digital Post is the backbone: the secure inbox where public authorities, and many private companies like your bank, pension fund and insurer, send official mail. Paper letters are the exception. You access it via borger.dk or the mit.dk / Digital Post app using MitID.
Why you must check it
Deadlines, tax messages, appointment letters and official decisions all land here and are legally considered delivered whether or not you read them. Missing a Digital Post message is not an excuse, so check it regularly or set up notifications.
Getting set up
You are enrolled automatically once you have a CPR number and MitID. Install the app, turn on notifications, and consider NemSMS, a free text-reminder service for appointments with public authorities (Danish phone numbers only). If you cannot use digital solutions, you can apply for an exemption at Borgerservice.
