Danish home internet, fast, cheap, fibre-first

Updated July 2026Reviewed July 2026
The short versionDanish home internet is fast, cheap and widely fibre-based. Check what the address already has (fibre, coax or DSL), pick a provider, and expect a 1-6 month binding period. Setup is quick if the connection already exists.

What is available

Denmark has excellent broadband. Most homes have fibre (fibernet) or fast coax; some older or rural addresses use DSL. The available technology depends on your exact address, so check before you choose a provider, the building or area determines your options more than the provider does.

Providers

Main players include YouSee, Norlys/Stofa, Fibia, Hiper, Telia and Telenor. Prices are competitive, often around 200-350 DKK/month for solid fibre speeds. Compare on speed, binding period and whether TV is bundled. You will usually pay by Betalingsservice direct debit.

Getting connected

If the address already has an active connection of the right type, setup can be days, they post a router or you self-install. If a new fibre line is needed it can take weeks. Watch the binding period (often 1-6 months) and notice period when signing. You will need a CPR number and usually a Danish payment method.

TV and streaming

Many Danes skip traditional TV packages for streaming. Note there is no separate TV licence any more (it was abolished and folded into tax). If you want Danish TV, providers bundle it, otherwise streaming plus a decent fibre line is all most people need. For mobile data see phone and SIM.

Your utilities are usually billed on account, see how aconto utility billing works.
