Your passport expires on 30 June 2028. A permit can only run until 3 months before your passport expires, so renew your passport first if you can.
How it's calculated
- The window. You can apply to extend your residence permit no earlier than 3 months before it expires.
- The deadline. You must apply before your permit expires. If you do not, you lose the right to stay and an application made in Denmark is usually rejected.
- Your passport. A permit can only be valid until 3 months before your passport expires, so renew a passport that runs out soon first.
- Processing. Most extensions take 3 to 5 months. You can stay while SIRI decides if you applied in time.

Can I travel while my extension is being processed?
It depends on your situation. Check SIRI's guidance on travel during processing before you book.
Does my CPR number expire with my permit?
Your CPR number stays the same, but your right to live in Denmark depends on a valid permit. Keep your address registered and your permit valid.
Do EU citizens need to renew?
EU registration certificates do not need regular renewal in the same way. This tracker is for residence permits.
